Breakups delayed for Holiday

People put off splitting with their partner so they do not miss out on a holiday together, according to a British survey.

While nine per cent have postponed a split in order to still take their trip, 11 per cent admitted breaking up so they could tour as a single person, the poll by travel agent sunshine.co.uk found.

A total of 1,839 adults were asked about holidays they had taken.

Nine per cent admitted they had held off breaking up with a partner so they could still go on a holiday they had booked or planned, while 82 per cent said they had parted ways following the trip, with most splitting up after two weeks.

But 18 per cent said they had carried on with their relationship, with most of this group saying the trip had brought them closer together, while others had a change of heart or stayed together out of "habit".

Sunshine.co.uk co-founder Chris Clarkson says: "I can't imagine how awkward it must be to have booked a holiday with your partner, or your partner and their whole family, only to realise just before that you don't want to be in the relationship any more."
