Chill out in Alaska, warm up in sunny Hawaii,

stay in Vancouver and on Canada’s sunshine coast

Chill out in spectacular Alaska and warm up in wonderful Hawaii. That’s this holiday in a nutshell – plus much more, spread over 25 days.

You’ll cruise on two excellent ships. Princess Cruises’ Pacific Princess explores the stunning Alaskan Inside Passage, while Royal Caribbean International’s Radiance of the Seas sails from the great Canadian city of Vancouver, crosses the Pacific and calls at the Hawaiian islands, including Honolulu and the laid-back surf paradise of Maui.

Called ‘Get Hot in Hawaii & Chill in Alaska’ this holiday from Worldwide Cruise Centres (worldwidecruisecentres.com.au) includes stays at fine hotels in two great Canadian locations and a two-day/three-night tour to the West Coast Wilderness Lodge.

You’ll stay three nights in Vancouver, consistently voted one of the world’s best cities, plus two nights in the West Coast Wilderness Lodge on the laid-back and scenically spectacular Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.

‘Get Hot in Hawaii & Chill in Alaska’ starts with a flight from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide to Vancouver on 31 August 2014. It costs from A$6599 per person twin-share (or from A$6799 if flying from Adelaide).

The holiday begins with two nights at the luxury Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside, located on the waterfront in downtown Vancouver, near the city’s top attractions. Robson Street Shopping District, known for its top name-brand stores, is a short walk away.

Next, board the stylish Pacific Princess. One of Princess Cruises’ smaller ships, Pacific Princess carries no more than 680 passengers. Take a personal enrichment class, try yoga, go duty-free shopping, relax with a dip in one of the pools or spas. All shipboard main meals (excluding specialty restaurants) are included, as is most entertainment.

Even more impressive is the scenery. The highlight of Alaska’s Inside Passage is phenomenal Glacier Bay, where black and brown bears forage and 16 tidewater glaciers plunge into icy fjords. You’ll also visit the frontier town of Juneau on the Gastineau Channel, the Klondike gold-rush town of Skagway and Ketchikan, a former fishing camp five kilometres long and just three blocks wide.

After the cruise, another Canadian spectacular awaits. A two-night/three-day mini-tour begins with a scenic 40-minute flight by floatplane northwest via Sechelt to the West Coast Wilderness Lodge. During your flight you may see whales, dolphins and sea lions swimming below in Howe Sound’s stunning islands and bays. You’ll also zoom over Skookumchuck Rapids, the fastest saltwater rapids in North America.

Your accommodation for two nights is the beautiful West Coast Wilderness Lodge resort in the village of Egmont on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast.

From the lodge, an all-day boat tour takes you to the head of Jervis Inlet, through the Malibu Rapids into sheltered Princess Louisa inlet, where you dock and stroll cedar boardwalks through the rainforest to Chatterbox Falls. On day three, explore Egmont at leisure before flying back to Vancouver by floatplane. Stay tonight in a Vancouver hotel.

The major cruise of ‘Get Hot in Hawaii & Chill in Alaska’ now awaits. Board Radiance of the Seas for a 10-night cruise to Hawaii from Vancouver. You’ve five days to relax onboard before you reach Hawaii. All shipboard main meals (excluding specialty restaurants), tips for staff and most entertainment are included. Ride in sleek glass elevators facing the sea; maybe try out the rock-climbing wall, African safari-themed solarium, indoor/outdoor country club with golf simulator, or day spa and fitness centre.

Before you know it, you’ll be in Hawaii! After a visit to Hilo, capital of the Big Island, explore Kailua-Kona at the heart of the coffee-growing Kona coast. Radiance of the Seas anchors off the old whaling town of Lahaina, Maui for a day. Visit Haleakala National Park and its awesome volcano crater, over 3000 metres high.

Nawiliwili comes next, on Kauai, an island of rainforest, smooth, rounded mountains, impossibly green valleys and waterfalls cascading from towering ocean cliffs.

Finally, disembark in Honolulu, Hawaii’s capital. Perhaps sip an aquamarine Blue Hawaii cocktail as the waves break on Waikiki Beach, before catching the flight home.
