If you consider yourself a bit of a foodie, the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen should be at the top of your bucket list. Each year, the world's most accomplished winemakers, celebrity chefs, and culinary luminaries come together in one breathtaking setting. Chefs from all over the country take to the stage in the Rocky Mountains to teach attendees everything from how to make exotic Asian American comfort food to mixing the perfect cocktail.
With numerous seminars, tastings and demonstrations there is definitely something to suit every palate. The Grand Tasting Pavilion, located in downtown Aspen acts as the main arena for majority of the event. During the event, the Pavilion is host to five grand tastings, two private trade grand tastings, and other samplings of wines and culinary delights from around the world. Also on offer are cookbook signings and a chance to mingle with chefs and other talented food celebrities.
This year’s classic also hosted a 5K Celebrity Chef Run which raised money for the Wholesome Wave foundation, which works to improve the accessibility and affordability of healthy, locally grown fruits and vegetables. The run is open to event participants, celebrity chefs and wine experts as well as Aspen locals. Another top event was the Last Bite Dessert party, hosted by Gail Simmons. It featured an array of desserts from cakes, cookies and everything in between. This party had guests indulge their sweet tooth and dance the night away.

To best prepare and make the most out of your time at the Food and Wine Classic follow these handy tips;
- Hydrate: Aspen has an altitude of 7890 ft. Which means that every glass of wine is like three back home at sea level. Make sure you drink plenty of water to even out the intensified affect of the alcohol.
- Layers: Aspen weather can vary from chilly mornings to steamy afternoons, so wear layers to be comfortable throughout the day
- Sun Protection: remember sunscreen and a hat as the sun’s rays are stronger at high altitudes
- Plan ahead: Book yourself into seminars and have a plan for demos and parties to make sure you see everything you want to!
