If the first thing you do when you enter a hotel room is to check out the bathroom - Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel may leave you with your jaw wide open.
Standing in the corner suite of the 17th floor is a bath that is as deep as a swimming pool. Surrounded by gleaming grey and white marble, the bath fills up faster than expected taking just minutes until ready to hop into. With a small seat inside it's possible to submerge your body all the way to your head and let the warm water soak into your cold travel-weary limbs.

But even more astounding is the view from the bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows offer a jaw-dropping view of Vancouver Harbour and the snow-capped Mountains beyond, taking in the convention centre, the picturesque Lions Gate bridge and Stanley Park. Plane enthusiasts will love watching the seaplanes taxi out from behind the Cactus Club, coasting across the water before lifting into the sky. All without stepping out into the cold. The bathroom's vanity is cleverly set back from the window allowing enough space to scoot in with a cup of tea and some complimentary chocolates, prop your back up against the wall and just watch this stunning city go about the day.
If you tire of the view (and you probably won't), there's also a bathroom wall-mounted TV with remote control. Self conscious? Touch a button and full-length shades drop down. The toilet is located in a separate enclave behind frosted glass allowing plenty of discretion for private business.
The large shower, tucked into the corner of the room offers a choice of waterfall, wall-mounted or hand-held spouts. With views and choices like this, it's no wonder this is the hotel the charismatic Canadian PM Justin Trudeau prefers when he is in town.
