Singapore Airlines will launch the world's longest commercial flight between Singapore and New York, in October.
The flight will cover 16,700km between the two cities in 18 hours and 45 minutes and will operate daily.
"The flights will offer our customers the fastest way to travel between the two cities (...) and will help boost connectivity to and through the Singapore hub," said Singapore Airlines' CEO, Goh Choon Phong in a statement on Wednesday.
The inaugural flight to Newark Liberty International Airport will take off on October 11 from the Changi airport in Singapore.
Qatar Airways has been operating the world's longest commercial flight between Doha and Auckland - covering a distance of 14,200km in 17 hours and 15 minutes - since March.
