Sydney's Taronga Zoo gets prehistoric

Taronga Zoo has added prehistoric dinosaurs to its stable of exotic animals.

Sixteen life-size robotic dinosaurs have been brought to Sydney as part of Taronga Zoo's Dinosaurs in the Wild exhibition, which began on Thursday.

"Everyone loves dinosaurs," said the zoo's marketing and commercial operations manager Paul Davies.

"To understand their story is to understand the need to protect today's species from the same devastating extinction experienced by the dinosaurs millions of years ago."

A Brachiosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Australia's own dinosaur, the Muttaburrasaurus, are among the prehistoric beasts that will be on display at Taronga until February 3.
