Staff Review: Air Canada Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Melinda recently jumped aboard Air Canada’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner on behalf of Ucango Travel & Cruise.

The Boeing 787 aircraft is designed to focus on delivering a more comfortable and enjoyable journey for passengers.

When embarking on the 787 I was welcomed with a high ceiling and mood lighting; the plane uses a subtle seven-minute sunrise program to imitate natural lighting upon arrival at destinations.

787 windows are larger than traditional aircrafts and have no pull-down shades; instead the windows have a button to control the level of light coming-in. The overhead lockers are larger in size also, meaning more room to store carry-on luggage.

The 787 also works to improve jet lag by introducing lower cabin altitude and advances in air filtration helping your body to adjust as you cross time zones, leaving you with fewer headaches, less travel fatigue and keeping your skin and body feeling refreshed.

Boeing 787 is divided into three sections: a 20-seat business class; a 21-seat premium economy section; and 210 seats in economy.

AIR CANADA BUSINESS CLASS
  • Business Class feature individual pods
  • 18-inch high-definition entertainment system
  • Fully lie-flat seats with lumbar support, mattress preference (harder or softer) with massage features
  • Dedicated business class menu
  • Amenities kit - The amenity kit featured the basics, including eyeshades, earplugs, socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a mint, along with some lip balm and lotion plus slippers.
  • Lavazzo Espresso’s for the coffee lovers
I found the Business Class seating very comfortable, reasonably spacious and accommodating.

AIR CANADA PREMIUM ECONOMY CLASS
  • 21 seats with 38 inches of leg room and 7 inch recline
  • 11 inch intuitive design touch screen for entertainment options
  • Universal power points and USB outlets
The rear seat row in front of the bulkhead (in the premium economy section of the plane) still reclines well, as the design has allowed for space behind the seat. This option is for those passengers who like to have no-one behind them when the rear row recline.

AIR CANADA ECONOMY CLASS
  • USB outlet and universal power points in each seat
  • Seat back entertainment system
  • 600 hours of the latest in film, new releases, seat to seat chat, shopping, TV and Music options
Recline was hindered by bulkhead but heaps of space between the window seats and the inside wall of the plane.

All-in-all Air Canada’s 787s are gorgeous, with great entertainment and comfort above all else.
